Forum Rozwoju Wolnego Oprogramowania
Właśnie odkryłem, na stronach Min.Informatyzacji, że w listopadzie 2003 Wojciech Szewko, Podsekretarz Stanu w Ministerstwie, powołał do istnienia Forum Rozwoju Wolnego Oprogramowania:
Forum tworzy grupa społecznych ekspertów, których zadaniem będzie ścisła współpraca z ministerstwem w zakresie wspierania rozwoju i upowszechniania wolnego oprogramowania w Polsce oraz integracja środowisk zaangażowanych w działania na rzecz wolnego oprogramowania.
Na stronach Ministerstwa znajduje się lista członków forum i jego zakres działania.
Wątpliwości, niestety, zaczynają się mnożyć. Tłumaczenie nazw obcych sprawa nieprosta – jak starałem się pokazać na przykładzie cyfrowej rozpadliny. Tym razem – mam nadzieje, że wszystko wyjaśni się w trakcie dalszej lektury, używana nazwa wolne oprogramowanie budzi jednoznaczne skojarzenia z ruchem społecznym free software Richarda Stallmana. Ciekawe, czy świadomie odcięto się od ruchu open source? Unia Europejska, na przykład, stosuje zazwyczaj neutralną nazwę F/LOSS: Free/Open Source Software, które należałoby tłumaczyć jako Oprogramowanie Wolne / Otwartego Źródła (OWOŹ), ewentualnie Wolne / Otwarte Oprogramowanie (WOO).

Brzmi całkiem dobrze.
Natomiast słowo forum zostało użyte nieco na wyrost, gdyż tworzy je sześć osób. Wśród członków dominują przedstawiciele sektora biznesowego i technicznego, w dużej mierze zajmujący się oprogramowaniem od strony technicznej (lub zarządzających projektami IT). Brak mi natomiast przedstawicieli trzeciego sektora, dla których oprogramowanie WOO stanowi cenny zasób oraz eksperta z jakiegoś miejsca na świecie lub w Internecie, w którym wokół open source dzieje się więcej niż w Polsce.
