WYŁĄCZENIE TECHNOLOGICZNE
Tłumaczenia terminologii związanej z nowymi mediami na polski zazwyczaj sprawia kłopoty. Ekwilibrystyka słowna wokół spolszczenia terminu digital divide mnie zachwyca. Jak już kiedyś pisałem, w czasie IV Forum Internetu Obywatelskiego (2003) dyskutowano o podziale informacyjnym i cyfrowym wykluczeniu.
Biuletyn Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego z czerwca 2002 roku wspomina o cyfrowym pęknięciu.
W czasie Panelu Dyskusyjnego „Cyfrowe Techniki Komunikacyjne Dziś i Jutro – Technika – Rynek – Społeczeństwo” dyskutowano o cyfrowej barierze.
Można też oczywiście terminu nie tłumaczyć.
Osobiście uważam, że cyfrowy podział brzmi dobrze i oddaje sens oryginalnego pojęcia, więc po co wydziwiać? Pojęcie to stosują autorzy raportu "Polska w drodze do globalnego społeczeństwa informacyjnego".
Tymczasem dziś w Gazecie Wyborczej, streszczając w tekście "Posiadanie komputera się opłaca" angielskie badania wpływu posiadania komputera na zatrudnienie, wyniki w pracy, dobrobyt, itp., Hubert Salik pisze o technologicznym wyłączeniu.
Niestety, jest to tłumaczenie beznadziejne, gdyż nikt ze wspomnianych powyżej autorów, nawet tych, którzy mylą bariery z podziałem (to jednak co innego), nie dyskutują o technological shutdown. Pamiętajmy więc:
1. nikt nie zostaje wyłączony za nieposiadania komputera (ludzi ogólnie rzecz biorąc nie da się wyłączać).
2. Istnieje jeszcze kilka innych technologii niż cyfrowe, więc na razie nie ma co tych dwóch pojęć mieszać.
