W Gazecie Wyborczej z ostatniego weekendu (27-28.09.2003) czeski publicysta Vaclav Bielohradsky, w tekście "Era ubóstwienia własnego głosu", dotyczącym Ameryki Busha i wojny w Iraku, porusza kwestie blogow. Pojawienie sie słowa "blog" w kontekście zupełnie nie-internetowego tekstu jest znakiem niezłej przemiany, jaka najwyraźniej zaszła od czasu, gdy 2 lata temu Talko pisał w GW o blogach zupełnie inaczej. Ale nie sądźcie, że blogi weszły na salony, gdzie przebywają wielcy tego świata, że pajęczyna rozproszonych blogowych głosów stałą się opiniotwórczą medialną potęgą. Uwagi Bielohradsky'ego są najlepszym potwierdzeniem mojego przekonania, że traktowanie blogosfery jako znaczącego aktora medialnego lub politycznego jest jednak przesadą. Są też ciekawym głosem w dyskusji na temat sił rozproszonych form działania, jakich pełno w dzisiejszych ruchach społecznych.

Relacje z wojny z Irakiem to koniec informacji wertykalnej potwierdzonej autorytetem dziennikarza, który ją opracował, zinterpretował i samodzielnie nadał jej kontekst. Rozpoczęła się era informacji horyzontalnej, której modelem jest blog albo strona internetowa ze zbiorem linków. Takie strony redagują iraccy dysydenci, niezależni dziennikarze, eksperci, zaangażowani przeciwnicy lub zdeklarowani zwolennicy wojny (zob. np. www.warblogs.cc; www.blogsofwar.com). Na ogół na owych stronach mieszają się teksty, obrazy, komentarze z różnych źródeł, uwagi wskazujące na różne możliwe "wersje faktów", a także zapisy odczuć, pojęć, półpojęć i emocji. Ta horyzontalna, niezróżnicowana sieczka nie jest wprawdzie embedded information, nie ma jednak wystarczającego ciężaru własnego, by mogła obalić choćby deklarację prezydenta Busha, że okupowany "Irak jest krajem wolnym".
