WWW w Budapeszcie
Podczas minionego weekendu w Budapeszcie odbyła się 12 Międzynarodowa Konferencja World Wide Web. Jest to bardzo budujące, że Węgry powoli, ale skutecznie zajmują swoje miejsce na mapie europejskich centrów nowej technologii. Co więcej, Węgry chciałyby stać się "technologicznym sercem Europy", jak to określił podczas konferencji Kalman Kovasc, węgierski minister Informatyki i Komunikacji. Węgrom udało się sprawnie zorganizować konferencję, mimo deficytu gniazdek na który uskarżali się posiadacze laptopów, o czym donosi Wired. Nie bylo natomiast problemu z dostępem do bezprzewodowego Internetu nie tylko w budynku, ale również w otaczającym go parku. Wydaje mi się to ważne, ponieważ jeszcze w pażdzierniku 2002 na konferencji AOiR w Holandii do dyspozycji uczestników było tylko kilka komputerów, ze stale zawieszającym się łączem. O Wi-Fi prawie się jeszcze nie słyszało. Mam nadzieję, że Polska dorobi się w niedługim czasie kilku hot-spotów a może nawet i ministra informatyki i może wtedy ktoś pomyśli o zorganizowaniu podobnej imprezy u nas.
Wracając do konferencji WWW, Tim Berners-Lee przedstawił nowy sposób ograniczania komercjalizacji sieci - nową polityką patentową W3C. W3C będzie wymagać ujawnienia wszystkich potencjalnych patentów związanych z nowymi technologiami WWW i dawać priorytet tym standardom, które nie będą ograniczane patentami. W ten sposób W3C chce zagwarantować wolny charakter standardów i swobodną ewolucję sieci.

Nie wierze w to że rząd nam zafunduje hotspoty w stolicy czy jakimkolwiek innym mieście. Prędzej wyobrażam sobie stworzenie sieć prywatnych hostspotów, z dostępem płatnym przez mikropłatności (przez króte średnio wierze) lub SMSy (prędzej).
